The New Denver Civic Theatre presents Cookin' at the Cookery, the story of Alberta Hunter, once a star of Broadway, the Casino de Paris, and the London Palladium, who gave it all up at the age of 60 to become a nurse. The musical celebration is set in 1977, when the 82-year-old legendary singer and songwriter is preparing to perform her first show in more than 20 years, at a Greenwich Village venue known as The Cookery, launching a comeback the likes of which the world has never seen.
