The national tour of If/Then, starring Tony Award winner Idina Menzel (Wicked, Frozen), begins performances tonight at the Buell Theatre of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. This original Broadway musical reunites composer Tom Kitt, book writer and lyricist Brian Yorkey, and director Michael Greif, the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal.

If/Then tells the story of Elizabeth, a woman who moves back to New York City with the intention of starting fresh as she approaches 40. The story follows two separate paths that Elizabeth's life could take: one as a successful city planner, the other as a wife and mother. The Broadway production ran for 29 previews and 401 performances at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

In addition to Menzel, the production features original Broadway cast members Tony Award winner LaChanze (The Color Purple), Anthony Rapp (Rent), and James Snyder (Cry-Baby).

Menzel, LaChanze, Rapp, and Snyder will play the Buell Theatre stop (October 13-25) as well as the Paramount Theatre in Seattle (November 3-8), the SHN Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco (November 10-December 6), the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles (December 8-January 3), San Diego Civic Theater in San Diego (January 5-10), ASU Gammage in Tempe (January 12-17), and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa (January 19-24). The tour will then continue across North America, with casting to be announced.
