Kevin Spacey to Receive 2009 Common Wealth Award

Tony Award winner Kevin Spacey will be among the recipients of the 30th Annual Common Wealth Awards for Distinguished Service, to be hosted by PNC Bank, Delaware, on Sunday, April 25 at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington.

Awards will also be presented to historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, and novelist Don DeLillo. The honorees will receive a shared prize of $200,000 during the ceremony.

As previously reported, Spacey will also be the recipient of The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s ninth annual Monte Cristo Award, which will be presented to him at a dinner at Bridgewaters in New York City on April 26 at 6:30pm, and the 2009 Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts, to be presented at the 13th annual Pell Awards Gala at Pelican Ledge in Newport, Rhode Island, on June 20 at 7pm.

Spacey won the Tony Award as Best Featured Actor in a Play for Lost in Yonkers and received a Best Actor nomination for The Iceman Cometh. His other New York stage credits include Ghosts, Hurlyburly, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and A Moon for the Misbegotten. He is also the artistic director of The Old Vic in London.
