Casa Mañana presents television and Broadway star Ron Raines in Rodgers and Hammerstein award winning musical, South Pacific. For 50 years, this timeless musical, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, has captivated audiences around the world. Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love affairs are threatened by prejudice and war. A spunky U.S. Navy nurse, Ensign Nellie Forbush from Little Rock, falls in love with a middle-age French plantation owner, Emile de Becque. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Joseph Cable of the U.S. Marines is love struck by a young Polynesian girl who speaks only French. The two men embark on a dangerous spy mission behind Japanese lines which may help turn the tide of the war. The score is full of Broadway standards, including: "There Is Nothing Like A Dame," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair," "Bali Hai," and the beloved, "Some Enchanted Evening."
