Dallas Theatre Center (CTC) has announced its 2011-2012 season, which will include a production of the musical Giant, co-produced by DTC and New York’s Public Theater. Michael Greif will direct the show, which has a score by Michael John LaChiusa and a book by Sybille Pearson. Based on Edna Ferber’s novel of the same name, Giant is a sweeping tale about Texas ranchers in the first half of the 20th century.

Also on the DTC schedule are productions of Shakespeare’s The Tempest (September 9 – October 9) and Geoffrey Nauffts’ Next Fall (April 26 – May 20), both to be directed by Kevin Moriarty. Joel Ferrell will also direct two productions for the company: Richard Hellesen’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol (November 25 – December 24), which will have music by David de Berry and choreography by Ferrell; and Yasmina Reza’s God of Carnage (April 17 – May 20).

The DTC season will also include Christopher Sergel’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird (October 21 – November 20), directed by Wendy Dann; and Kim Rosenstock’s Tigers Be Still (March 2 – April 15), directed by Hal Brooks.
