Synopsis

Zoo Theatre presents a classic of the American stage - Maria Irene Fornes' Mud. In this dark comedy, a biting comment on poverty in America, Fornes introduces us to a world where an object as simple as a book can bring salvation. Mae and Lloyd, live together in a small rundown house somewhere on the fringes of America. As she dreams of a road out of her situation and watches Lloyd rot from a sickness he refuses to treat, Mae brings Henry to their house. Mae and Henry's relationship blossoms until an accident that renders Henry paralyzed. As Lloyd and Henry bicker and fight like children, Mae learns that she is the only one that can truly save herself - if she can only find a way out.
