Synopsis:
The Ballad of Baby Doe is filled with characters and a story based on the real lives of people who lived during the westward migration and gold rush days, one of the most dynamic periods of American history. The music incorporates melodies drawn from folk themes, hymns, old waltzes, and a touch of jazz. The opera's story has all the essential ingredients of love, betrayal, money, power, fame and ruin. Join us in celebrating the 50th anniversary of this beloved opera's New York City premiere!
