Synopsis:
Chantecler, by Edmond Rostand, author of
Cyrano de Bergerac, is an animal allegory about a rooster who believes that his song makes the sun rise. Adhesive Theatre Project's production in association with Off The Leesh Productions investigates the themes of inspiration, finding our place in society, and overcoming our greatest doubts and fears. With the company's resident composer's three-piece band performing an original score, a visual artist drawing the world of the play as it transpires, and 11 actors playing over 100 characters using puppets, masks, and physical theater, Adhesive Theatre Project breaks new ground in the theater by offering a uniquely live experience for the whole family. Not seen in New York since its original Broadway production in 1911, this fresh translation of Rostand's
Chantecler brings back the poetry and vitality of the original French just in time to celebrate the Year of the Rooster.
