The Broadway revival of Les Misérables, which opened on November 9 and was originally announced for a six-month engagement to end in the spring of 2007, will continue its run at the Broadhurst Theatre through the summer at least.

Producer Cameron Mackintosh stated, "I am delighted that audiences have welcomed Les Miz back to Broadway with such open arms. Because of even stronger than anticipated ticket sales, clearly public demand exists for the show to continue at the Broadhurst beyond the originally planned six-month engagement."

The show features Alexander Gemignani (Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Gary Beach (Thenardier), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thenardier), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Eponine), Aaron Lazar (Enjolras), Adam Jacobs (Marius), and Ali Ewoldt (Cosette). As previously announced, Rubin-Vega will take a leave of absence from February 18 through April 11 to star in Jack Goes Boating at The Public Theater; a replacement for her will be announced after January 1.

Les Misérables is the third longest-running show in Broadway history and the longest-running musical ever to play the West End. It has been seen by more than 54 million people in 38 countries and 21 languages since its first London performance in October 1985. The original Broadway production opened on March 12, 1987 at the Broadway Theatre, winning eight Tony Awards that season (including Best Musical) and going on to play a total of 6,680 performances.
