Wicked Day Set for October 29

The lineup of special events to celebrate the third anniversary of the hit Broadway show Wicked has been announced. The celebration will culminate on Sunday, October 29, 11am-2pm, with the annual "Wicked Day" Block Party outside the Gershwin Theater on West 51st Street.

On Tuesday, October 24 at 4pm, the show's cast will perform at Dylan's Candy Bar (Third Avenue and 60th Street), and the first 50 fans to arrive will be invited to make free Wicked sundaes. Cast members will also make meet-and-greet appearances at the NBC Experience Store in Rockefeller Plaza at 11am on Friday, October 27 and at 5:30pm on Saturday, October 28 at the Paramount Hotel (235 West 46th Street).

The Block Party will include the finals of the "Be Wicked" singing contest, in which entrants will sing a number from the musical. The contest's semifinals will take place at 11:30am on Saturday, October 14 at the Livingston Mall in Livingston, New Jersey; at 11:30am on Saturday, October 21 at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, New York; and at 5pm on Wednesday, October 25 at the Virgin Megastore in Times Square. The grand prize includes four free tickets to the show, hotel accommodations, a backstage tour, a platinum record plaque, and a $500 gift card from Bloomingdale's.

On October 10, Ana Gasteyer will take over of the role of Elphaba in the Broadway company of Wicked, replacing Eden Espinosa. The other current stars of the show are Kate Reinders, David Garrison, Carol Kane, Derrick Williams, Steven Skybell, Logan Lipton, and Jenna Leigh Green.
