Rent is an exciting, emotional, high-spirited and stirring musical. It is about a group of young struggling artists and everything, good or bad, sad or happy, wonderful or awful, that happens to them. Mark is a film-maker, Roger is a musician, Joanne is a lawyer, Collins is a professor, Mimi is a dancer at a club, Angel is a drummer, and Maureen is a performance artist. The story is all about what happens to the three couples (Roger and Mimi being one, Collins and Angel being the second, and Maureen and Joanne being the third - (Mark is by himself). Rent is much like an opera, not just because it is based on one (La Boheme) but also because there is very little dialogue, everything is sung or put to a rhythmical beat. I believe anyone, young or old, will get something out of this wonderfully beautiful musical that shows real life in a way that you can't get in any other musical of today.
