A swell party was thrown at Bond 45 last night to celebrate Brooke Shields' return to Broadway as Roxie Hart in Chicago, and those in attendance certainly didn't seem to mind that Tom Cruise was not among them. Here's the beautiful Brooke, radiant on her opening night.

On hand for the festivities were three of Shields' co-stars in the show: Luba Mason, who plays Velma Kelly...

Also making the scene was Liza Minnelli, who briefly but unforgettably played Roxie Hart as a replacement for Gwen Verdon in the original production of Chicago.

Jim Caruso's Cast Party, the weekly Monday late-night event at Birdland, continues to attract gifted performers -- "and other people," as Caruso wryly puts it. Among those who took to the stage on Monday, September 12 was the fabulous singer/songwriter Amanda McBroom, who's starring in A Woman of Will Off-Broadway.

Also sharing their talents at Cast Party were the stars of The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde, one of the offerings of the New York Musical Theatre Festival: Sherrie Austin...

...and Deven May, best known for his amazing performance in the title role of Bat Boy.
