By: Adam Klasfeld · May 11, 2005  · New York

The winners of the New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards for the 2004-2005 season have been announced. John Patrick Shanley's Doubt was named Best Play, and the Best Foreign Play award went to Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman. The NYDCC gave no award of Best Musical this year.

Founded in 1935, the NYDCC currently includes 21 drama critics from newspapers, magazines, and wire services based in the New York metropolitan area. Michael Sommers of The Star-Ledger/Newhouse Newspapers is president of the organization.

Three-time NYDCC award winner Edward Albee will present this year's award for best play at a cocktail reception to be held on Tuesday, May 24, at the Algonquin Hotel, where the organization was founded in 1935.
