Tony Award winner Des McAnuff will direct a Broadway revival of Guys and Dolls in Spring 2009, at a Nederlander Theater to be announced. Sergio Trujillo will choreograph. Casting and additional creative team information will be announced at a later date.

Featuring music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, the musical is based on two short stories by Damon Runyon, "The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown" and "Blood Pressure." The score includes such classic Loesser hits as "Fugue for Tinhorns," "A Bushel and a Peck," "Adelaide's Lament," "I'll Know," "Guys and Dolls," "More I Cannot Wish You," "Luck Be A Lady," and "Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat."

The musical was first produced on Broadway in 1950 at the 46th Street Theatre, directed by George S. Kaufman and starring Robert Alda, Sam Levene, Isabel Bigley and Vivian Blaine. The musical enjoyed an initial run of 1,201 performances, winning five 1951 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

McAnuff won Tonys for his direction of Big River and The Who's Tommy. He is currently represented on Broadway by the Tony winning Best Musical Jersey Boys, and is currently directing Romeo and Juliet and Caesar and Cleopatra at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, where he is artistic director. Trujillo previously collaborated with McAnuff on Jersey Boys, for which he received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for choreography. He contributed to the choreography of the Broadway musical All Shook Up, and recent theater credits include Memphis (La Jolla Playhouse), Saved (Playwrights Horizons), and Next to Normal (Second Stage).
