Actors' Equity and Broadway League Reach Tentative Contract

By: Brian Scott Lipton · Jun 2, 2008  · New York

Actors' Equity Association and The Broadway League have now reached a tentative, 39-month contract governing Equity's Production Contract, which covers Broadway and touring productions. If approved, the contract will be retroactive to June 30 and will expire in September 2011.

Highlights of the agreement include an 11-and-one-quarter percent increase in the overall compensation package -- including salary, health benefits, and pension -- over the life of the contract; more flexibility for producers in publicity, promotion, and marketing of shows, and a revised touring arrangement that seeks to promote more League productions that will provide more employment by Equity members.
