Full casting has been announced for the Attic Theatre's West Coast premiere of Jeff Whitty's The Hiding Place, May 23-June 28. Kevin Fabian will direct.
Set in mid-90's New York City, the play concerns Karl, a popular but unsatisfied novelist and Myra, a struggling playwright/waitress new to the city. The course of their relationship is dramatized by Myra, creating much turmoil for them both, as well as for their circle of friends and fellow artists.
The cast will include Jen Kays, Jan Munroe, Brian Shnipper, Christine Stump, John Szura, Megan Tropea, and Kasey Wilson.
Whitty won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Avenue Q. Other plays include The Further Adventures of Hedda Gabler, The Plank Project, Balls, and Suicide Weather. He is currently working with Jake Shears and John "JJ" Garden of The Scissor Sisters on a musical adaptation of Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City.
