Leslie Uggams to Star in Pasadena Playhouse's Stormy Weather

Tony Award winner Leslie Uggams will play legendary entertainer Lena Horne in the Pasadena Playhouse's production of Stormy Weather by Sharleen Cooper Cohen, January 23-February 28. The show, which will be directed by Michael Bush, will open officially on January 30. Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Previously produced at Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater, where Uggams also starred, the show focuses on the life of the legendary entertainer, including her controversial marriage to Lennie Hayton, a white Jewish composer. The show will use standards such as "The Lady is a Tramp," "From This Moment On," and "Stormy Weather."

Uggams won the Tony Award for Hallelujah Baby! and has appeared on Broadway in such shows as King Hedley II, On Golden Pond, and Jerry's Girls.
