Cynthia Nixon to Star in Roundabout's Distracted

Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon will star in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Lisa Loomer's Distracted, at the Laura Pels Theatre in February, 2009. The production will be directed by Mark Brokaw. Additional details will be announced shortly.

The play, which premiered at the Mark Taper Forum in 2007, focuses on a mother's quest to find a remedy for her eight-year-old son's anxious and distracted behavior. Does he really have ADD or is he simply reacting to the over-stimulation of modern technology? Loomer's other plays include The Waiting Room and Living Out.

Nixon won the Tony Award for her work in Rabbit Hole. Her many New York stage credits include The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Indiscretions, The Real Thing, and Hurlyburly. She won the Emmy Award for Sex and the City and will appear in the film version of the series, due out on May 30.

Brokaw is currently represented on Broadway by Cry-Baby. He previously directed the Roundabout's productions of The Constant Wife and Suddenly Last Summer.
