Ariano, Ewoldt, Johnson, et al. to Star in Prospect's Honor

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for Prospect Theatre Company's world premiere staging of Honor, featuring book and music by Peter Mills and Cara Reichel, lyrics by Mills, and direction by Reichel. The production will play the Hudson Guild Theatre, April 19-May 18.

The musical transplants Shakespeare's As You Like It to feudal Japan, telling a passionate tale of romance and the redemption of family honor.

The principal cast includes Alan Ariano, Eymard Cabling, Ariel Estrada, Ali Ewoldt, Steven Eng, Christine Toy Johnson, Brian Jose, Ming Lee, Jaygee Macapugay, Doan MacKenzie, Mel Maghuyop, Diane V. Phelan, Romney Piamonte, Vincent Rodriguez, and David Shih. The ensemble includes Whitney Lee, Allan Mangaser, Toshiji Takeshima, and Robert Torigoe.

The creative team will include Erica Beck Hemminger (set), Sidney Shannon (costumes), Evan Purcell (lighting), Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum (fight choreography), Dax Valdes (choreography), Daniel Feyer (music direction), and Erika Ito (orchestrations).

Mills' works include The Rockae, Iron Curtain, The Pursuit of Persephone, and Illyria. He received the 2007 Fred Ebb Award for emerging songwriters, as well as 2005 Drama Desk Award nominations for Best Music and Best Orchestrations, the 2003 Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award from the ASCAP Foundation, and a 2002 grant from the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation. Reichel is the Producing Artistic Director of Prospect Theater Company. Her directing credits include The Rockae, The Flood (co-author) Iron Curtain (IT Award Nomination, Best Director), and The Pursuit of Persephone (co-bookwriter).
