Based on the true experience of its creators and stars, the show is the story of two struggling writers who race to complete their new musical in time to submit it to a musical theater festival. The show was first seen in the 2004 New York Musical Theatre Festival and had a brief run at Ars Nova, before officially making its Off-Broadway debut at the Vineyard Theatre in 2006. Kevin McCollum, Jeffrey Seller, Laura Camien, Roy Miller, and Kris Stewart will produce the Broadway production along with the Vineyard.

The creative team will feature Neil Patel (set design), Chase Tyler (costume design), Ken Billington and Jason Kantrowitz (lighting design), and Acme Sound Partners (sound design).

The Off-Broadway original cast recording is available on Ghostlight Records; a Broadway recording is being planned.
