(© Jesse Gerstein) | Jerome Robbins and His World, an exhibition culled from the personal archives of the late director and choreographer, will be on view at the New York Library for the Performing Arts' Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery, March 25-June 28.
Organized in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of Robbins' death, the exhibition will include costumes, preliminary sketches, and rare film footage of Robbins' work, which included numerous Broadway musicals -- including West Side Story, Gypsy, and Fiddler on the Roof -- and many ballets.
A number of public programs will be held in conjunction with the exhibit, include a lecture by Lynn Garafola (Sunday, March 29 at 3pm); a tribute to Robbins' friend and lawyer, Flora Lasky (Tuesday, June 3 at 6pm); a conversation between author Christine Conrad and Robbins' friend Daniel Stern (Tuesday, June 5 at 6pm); and and a lecture by Amanda Valli, author of Somewhere: The Life of Jerome Robbins (Monday, June 16 at 6pm).
