Shakespeare Theatre Company has added Noël Coward's Design for Living, to be directed by artistic director Michael Kahn, to its 2008-2009 season. The production, which will run May 12-June 28, will replace the previously announced new musical An Italian Straw Hat, which is now tentatively planned for the 2009-2010 season.

The 2008-2009 season will also include Romeo and Juliet staged by David Muse, September 9-October 12, followed by William Congreve's Restoration comedy, The Way of the World, directed by Kahn, September 30-November 16. The cast will include Cox, Floyd King, Andrew Long, and Nancy Robinette.

Rebecca Bayla Taichman will direct Twelfth Night, December 2-January 4, featuring Cox, King, and Robinette. Jonathan Munby will then stage a production of The Dog in the Manger by Lope de Vega, February 10-March 29. Translated and adapted by David Johnston, it is a tragicomedy about a countess who breaks class taboos by falling for her male secretary.

McSweeny will helm David Lan's translation of Euripides' Ion, March 10-April 12. Carlson will play the title role of a foundling, raised in the temple of Apollo, who rediscovers his parents.

The season will close with King Lear, June 16-July 19, a remount of the 2006 production at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. Falls will restage his concept, and this production will star Keach.
