The Off-Broadway musical Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz will end its run at New World Stages on Sunday, May 25 prior to a planned world tour. At the time of its closing, Celia will have played a total of 25 previews and 269 regular performances.

The show focuses on the life of Cruz, the Cuban-born singer who became a sensation in America after moving to New York in 1965 and striking up a lifelong friendship and professional relationship with Tito Puente. During her career, she won three Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammies. She received the National Medal of the Arts from President Clinton. Cruz, who became known as "The Queen of Salsa" died in 2003 at the age of 77.

Celia's upcoming tour will include visits to Spain, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico and several U.S. cities including Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Boston. Dates and venues will be announced at a later date.

Para mi fue una experiencia formidable el cual pude apreciar a Modesto Lacen, en su actuacion como Pedro. Para mi ver a un compueblamno mio en Broadway es algo de admirar. Todos los del elenco su participacion fue formidable. Roberto Colon Loiza, PR
