Michael Kadin Craig will take over the role of Matthew in the long-running Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz on March 31. He replaces Chad Doreck.

A spoof of a Christian boy-band (complete with one Jewish member), the show has music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker and a book by Kevin Del Aguila, based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport. It is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

The cast also features Jay Garcia, Jesse JP Johnson, Ryan J. Ratliff, and Ryan Strand. Craig has previously played Matthew in St. Louis and Cincinatti. His other stage credits include Only Children, Things To Ruin: The Songs Of Joe Iconis, Edges, High School Musical, and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Altar Boyz was named Best Off-Broadway Musical by the Outer Critics Circle and received numerous Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominations.

I was of the fortunate ones to be there too at last nights debut of Michael. Ive seen this show many times before but last nights performance had energy of the likes Ive never seen. Matthew brought an energy and sense of leadership that was perfect for the show. His vocal and acting presence was sensational!
