Berkeley Rep has announced the selection of plays for its 2008-2009 season. Casting, creative team, and specific dates will be announced later.
The Main Season will consist of five productions, beginning with the world premiere of Itamar Moses' Yellowjackets, about the fallout of a high school newspaper publishing an insensitive story, to be helmed by artistic director Tony Taccone. It will be followed by August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone, directed by Delroy Lindo; Mary Zimmerman's fantasy The Arabian Nights; the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl's The Vibrator Play, about six lone people seeking relief from a local doctor, directed by Les Waters; and David Henry Hwang's quasi-autobiographical piece Yellow Face.
The theater will also present Mairlyn Campbell and Curt Columbus' 90-minute version of Crime and Punishment, directed by Sharon Ott, and Waters' production of Martin McDonagh's award-winning black comedy The Lieutenant of Inishmore.
