Basil Twist's Petrushka, featuring Igor Stravinsky's Petrushka, Suite for Two Pianos, will return to Lincoln Center for 14 performances as part of the Great Performers New Visions series, "Stravinsky Onstage." Performances will take place April 2-13, in the Clark Studio Theater in the Rose Building.

Petrushka centers around the titular tragic clown, who comes alive as nine hidden puppeteers combine Czech and Japanese puppetry techniques in a tour de force of puppet wizardry. Stravinsky's score will be performed by sisters Julia and Irina Elkina in the two-piano version. The duo opens the program with Stravinsky's Sonata for Two Pianos. Petrushka was commissioned by Great Performers and had its world premiere at Lincoln Center in May 2001.

Twist is best known as the creator of the award-winning Symphonie Fantastique. He previously staged the opera La Bella Dormemte Nel Bosco for the Lincoln Center Festival. Additional works include The Araneidae Show, Tell Tale, and Dogugaeshi.

Hattie...What I Need You To Know!
Playwright/performer Vickilyn Reynolds is a vocal powerhouse in this clunky bio-musical about Hattie McDaniel.
