Spring Awakening, Bublé, Dale, Khan, et al. Win Grammy Awards

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards were presented live from Los Angeles' Staples Center on Sunday, February 10 and broadcast live on CBS-TV.

The evening's big winners included Spring Awakening for Best Musical Show Album; Tony Award winner Jim Dale for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows; and current Color Purple star Chaka Khan, who took home Grammys for Best R&B Album for Funk This and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for "Disrespectful" with Mary J. Blige.

Other winners included Michael Bublé for Best Traditional Pop Album for Call Me Irresponsible; Patti Austin for Best Jazz Vocal Album for Avant Garde, and Henry Kreiger and Siedah Garrett for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television, or Other Visual Media for "I Love You I Do," from Dreamgirls. In addition, Burt Bacharach, Cab Calloway, Doris Day, Itzhak Perlman, and Max Roach were among the recipients of this year's Grammy Award honors for Lifetime Achievement.

Cirque du Soleil's LOVE won Best Compilation Album; members of that show joined Broadway star Carol Woods and cast members of the film Across the Universe in a tribute to the Beatles, which was introduced by Tom Hanks. BeBe Winans, who is currently playing Harpo in The Color Purple, performed a gospel number with winner Aretha Franklin.

The evening's many winners also included Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake, Joni Mitchell, Carrie Underwood, Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Vince Gill, Rihanna, the late opera singer Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, and the late jazz saxophonist Michael Brecker.

Other performers and presenters included Jason Bateman, Tony Bennett, Beyoncé, Andrea Bocelli, Cher, Natalie Cole, Miley Cyrus, Feist, Fergie, John Fogerty, Josh Groban, Quincy Jones, Kid Rock, Carole King, Dave Koz, Lang Lang, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, George Lopez, John Mayer, Joe Mantegna, Brad Paisley, Prince, Bonnie Raitt, Keely Smith, Ringo Starr, Dave Stewart, Tina Turner, Usher, Andy Wiliams, and Stevie Wonder.
