Alan Dale, best known as Bradford Meade on ABC's Ugly Betty, will join the London cast of Monty Python's Spamalot as King Arthur, beginning March 3. The musical plays the Palace Theatre.
Dale takes over the role from Peter Davison, whose final performance will be March 1. The production also currently stars Marin Mazzie as The Lady of The Lake, Robert Hands as Sir Robin, Steven Kynman as Prince Herbert, Graham MacDuff as Sir Dennis Galahad, Andrew Spillett as Patsy, Tony Timberlake as Sir Bedevere, and Jake Nightingale as Sir Lancelot.
Dale has also appeared on the U.S. TV series The O.C. and Lost and the popular Australian soap Neighbours. His upcoming film credits include Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Skull.
Monty Python's Spamalot is directed by Mike Nichols and includes a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, with a score by Idle and John Du Prez. The show's creative team includes Casey Nicholaw (direction/choreography), Tim Hatley (costumes), Hugh Vanstone (lighting), and Acme Sound Partners (sound).
