Full casting has been announced for Talking Pictures and the Horton Foote one-acts, Blind Date and The Actor. The plays are part of the Goodman's Horton Foote Festival, which will run January 26-April 6.
Talking Pictures will run January 26-March 2, with an opening night set for February 4. Set in Harrison, Texas on the eve of the Depression, the play concerns the residents of a small boarding house dealing with myriad crises, small and large. Henry Wishcamper will direct a cast that includes Judy Blue (Mrs. Jackson), Audrey Francis (Gladys), Phillip Earl Johnson (Willis), Jenny McKnight (Myra), Gabriel Notarangelo (Estaquio), Kathleen Romond (Vesta), E. Vincent Teninty (Ashenback), Dan Waller (Gerard), Bubba Weiler (Pete), and Jason Wells (Mr. Jackson). The design team will include Tom Burch (set), Birgit Rattenborg Wise (costumes), Robert Christen (lighting) and Richard Woodbury (sound).
The Foote one-acts, to run in repertory February 21-March 2, will share many of the same actors as Talking Pictures. Blind Date concerns an aunt's quest to make sure her niece does not die a spinster. Directed by Steve Scott, it will star Blue, Dan Hale, Romond, and Wells. The Actor is about a 15-year-old boy's dream of becoming an actor during the heart of the Great Depression. Rick Snyder directs a cast that includes Patrick Andrews, Francis, Hale, Johnson, McKnight, Notarangelo, Lee Stark, and Weiler.
The Horton Foote Festival will also include the Goodman's production of The Trip to Bountiful (March 1-April 6), starring Lois Smith, as well as a series of special one-night-only events.
Foote is one of America's most beloved and prolific playwrights. He won the Pulitzer Prize for The Young Man from Atlanta; his many other plays include Dividing the Estate, The Traveling Lady, and The Carpetbagger's Children.
