(© Joseph Marzullo/WENN) | Yosefa Forma, Tara Joyce, and Adam Kulbersh will join Joan Rivers for the world premiere of Joan Rivers: A Work in Progress by a Life in Progress, to play L.A.'s Geffen Playhouse, February 5-March 30. The show, which will open officially on February 13, is co-written by Douglas Bernstein and Denis Markell and directed by Bart DeLorenzo.
The show, which was workshopped earlier this year at the Magic Theater under the title The Joan Rivers Theater Project, takes place before a big awards show as Rivers takes an introspective look at aging, going through life's ups and downs, and being a woman in Hollywood. Forma will play a make-up artist; Joyce will play a newly minted studio executive; and Kulbersh will play an associate producer.
Rivers received a Tony Award nomination for Sally Marr and Her Escorts and is one of the world's most well-known stand-up comedians. She has been a best-selling author, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, a screenwriter, and director.
In related news, Rivers will take part on January 11 in a special panel discussion at the Geffen with fellow playwrights Jane Anderson, Daniel Beaty, Marcus Hummon, Neil LaBute, Donald Margulies, and Adrian Pasdar, moderated by the theater's artistic director, Randall Arney.
