The award-winning Broadway musical The Drowsy Chaperone will play its final performance on Sunday, December 30 after a run of 674 performances and 32 previews. The show recouped its investment.

The Drowsy Chaperone won five 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Book (Bob Martin and Don McKellar) and Best Score of a Musical (Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison), and seven Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical. Directed by Casey Nicholaw, the show currently stars Bob Saget, Mari Davi, Danny Burstein, Peter Bartlett, Cindy Williams, and Beth Leavel, who won the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

In TheaterMania's review, David Finkle wrote: "The best new musical of the season has arrived, and it ought to keep audiences smiling, laughing, and clapping their mitts off for some time to come -- even folks who have only the faintest understanding of what '20s musicals were like."
