Kate Burton and Blake Bashoff will join the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening later this month.

Bashoff will take over the role of Moritz on Tuesday, December 18, succeeding John Gallagher, Jr. He will make his Broadway debut in the role. Bashoff is best known for his roles on the television series One Tree Hill and Lost.

Burton, who appeared briefly in the show's Off-Broadway production, will play all the adult women's roles, from December 21-March 2. She succeeds Christine Estabrook. Burton is a three-time Tony Award nominee for Hedda Gabler, The Constant Wife, and The Elephant Man. She received an Emmy Award for Notes for my Daughter and is a two-time Emmy Award nominee for her role on ABC's Grey's Anatomy. She will co-star in the L.A. Theatre Works' production of Major Barbara, December 12-15.

Spring Awakening also stars Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele, who will remain in the show until May 18, 2008. The show won eight 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
