Gypsy of the Year Postponed to December 17-18

By: Brian Scott Lipton · Nov 19, 2007  · New York

Due to the current union strike against 27 Broadway shows, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has postponed its annual Gypsy of the Year competition two weeks to December 17 and 18. The event was originally set to take place on December 3 and 4 at the Neil Simon Theatre.

The majority of funds are raised during appeals at the end of Broadway shows. As a result of the strike, donations can now be made online at www.Broadwaycares.org.

Fundraising is still continuing at the open Broadway shows, many Off-Broadway shows, and national tours. Last year's competition raised over $3 million for the organization.

Information about ticketing for the event will be announced at a later date.
