Legendary performer Carol Channing will perform songs from her many hit shows at a scholarship benefit at Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday, November 4.
Channing, recipient of the 1995 Lifetime Achievement Tony Award, is best known for having starred on Broadway in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Hello, Dolly! She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Channing has been meeting with governors throughout the country, regarding the importance of Arts Education in the public schools K through College. At a recent September 6 appearance before the California State Legislature on behalf of Arts in Education, she was honored with three presentations/proclamations, including one made by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
At the event, Channing will sing and tell stories from her life and career. Students from Cal State San Bernardino's theatre arts and music departments will also perform. Proceeds will establish the Carol Channing Performing Arts Scholarship to benefit theatre and music students at Cal State San Bernardino. VIP tickets will include a post-performance reception and an opportunity to meet Channing.
