Actors John Cullum, Harvey Fierstein, Dana Ivey, and Lois Smith, director Jack O'Brien, playwright Peter Shaffer, librettist Joseph Stein, and the late New York Times theater critic Mel Gussow will be inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame at the Gershwin Theatre on January 28.

Eligible nominees must have a minimum of five major credits and 25 years in the Broadway theatre. The inductees are voted on by the American Theater Critics Association and the members of the Theater Hall of Fame.

Cullum is a two-time Tony Award winner for Shenandoah and On the Twentieth Century. Fierstein won two Tonys for Torch Song Trilogy (which he wrote), one for starring in Hairspray, and one for writing the book to La Cage Aux Folles. Ivey is a five-time Tony Award nominee for her work in Butley, Heartbreak House, Sunday in the Park with George, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, and The Rivals. Smith earned Tony nominations for Buried Child and The Grapes of Wrath.

O'Brien has won Tonys for his direction of The Coast of Utopia, Henry IV, and Hairspray. Shaffer is the author of the Tony-winning plays Amadeus and Equus. Stein won the Tony for Fiddler on the Roof.
