Creature of Habit

Hunter Foster, Christiane Noll, and Steve Blanchard provide a sneak peek at the new musical Frankenstein.

There's an exciting new creature in town -- more specifically, at the 37 Arts Theatre where a new musical version of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein is in previews (with an official opening set for November 1). TheaterMania recently attended a special press event, where we got a glimpse at a few of the show's stirring musical numbers and had a chance to chat with stars Hunter Foster, who plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Christiane Noll, who plays his lady love Elizabeth, and Steve Blanchard, who plays the creature.

What a Surprise!

I saw this Oct. 24 in previews. I wasnt looking forward to seeing another horror genre play, but this one was different. A great cast with supurb acting and singing, and a musical score that is better than most recent offerings. The staging is sparse, but effective this is off-broadway, and the costumes reflect the time and mood wonderfully. This is a sophisticated musical drama that can be seen by anyone. Frankenstein is currently one of the best on or off-broadway.

I saw Frankenstein last night and loved it. The musica is haunting and beautiful. The cast was perfect. This is a show that should be seen and hopefully will transfer to Broadway and make people forget about Young frankenstein

It saw it last week in preview. and it is a winner! The acting is superb. Steve Blanchard as the Creature is wonderful. And the staging on three levels adds time and space to the whole plot. Indeed, this is a Broadway production and I DO recommend it!
