Daniel Sullivan Injured; Midsummer Delays First Preview

Injuries sustained by director Daniel Sullivan during rehearsals of the Public Theater's production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, have resulted in its first preview being moved one day to August 8. The show, which will open officially on August 23, will run through September 9.

Sullivan accidentally fell through a trap on the show's set on Tuesday. He was taken to a local hospital, where he is being treated for four fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. However, a show's spokesperson says he is making a speedy recovery and expected to resume rehearsals in a few days.

The cast includes Opal Alladin (Hippolyta), Jason Antoon (Snout), Keith David (Oberon), Mireille Enos (Hermia), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Flute), Jon Michael Hill (Puck), Austin Lysy (Lysander), Tim Blake Nelson (Quince), Daniel Oreskes (Theseus), Martha Plimpton (Helena), Laila Robins (Titania), Jay O. Sanders (Bottom), Elliot Villar (Demetrius), Chelsea Bacon (First Fairy), Ken Cheeseman (Starveling), Christine Corpuz (Ensemble), Herb Foster (Philostrate), Simon Garratt (Fairy), Erica Huang (Fairy), Ben Huber (Ensemble), Cassidy Leonard (Fairy), George Morfogen (Egeus), Lily Maketansy (Fairy), Mallory Portnoy (Ensemble), Lina Silver (Fairy), Keith Randolph Smith (Snug), and Jack Tartaglia (Fairy).
