The complete cast has been announced for the Off-Broadway production of Walmartopia, which will begin performances at The Minetta Lane Theatre on August 21, with an opening night set for Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

Featuring a book by Catherine Capellaro with music and lyrics by Andrew Rohn, the musical satire tells the tale of a single mom and Wal-Mart employee who speaks out against her company's working conditions and finds herself and her young daughter jettisoned to 2036, into a future where Wal-Mart dominates the entire world. A previous version of the musical played last year's New York International Fringe Festival. This new production is directed by Daniel Goldstein, with choreography by Wendy Seyb.

Cheryl Freeman, who will star as Vicki Lettrell, received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in The Civil War, and her other Broadway credits include Play On!, The Who's Tommy, Amen Corner, and Showboat. Nikki M. James, who will play her daughter Maia, starred as Dorothy in La Jolla Playhouse's recent production of The Wiz, and has appeared on Broadway in All Shook Up and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Stephen DeRosa, who will play the roles of Dr. Normal and Otis, has numerous Broadway credits, including Into the Woods, Hairspray, and Twentieth Century.

The cast will also feature Sarah Bolt, Bradley Dean, John Jellison, Brennen Leath, Andrew Polk, Pearl Sun, Scotty Watson, and Helene Yorke. The creative team will include David Korins (sets), Miranda Hoffman (costumes), Ben Stanton (lights), Erin Kennedy Lunsford (hair, wigs & make-up), Tony Smolenski & Walter Trarbach (sound), and August Eriksmoen (music supervisior).
