Plans are underway to bring The Addams Family, a new musical based on characters, cartoons and sketches by the legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, to Broadway during the 2009-2010 season, preceded by an out-of-town tryout.

The show will be directed and designed by Improbable Theater founders Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch, best known for their work on Shockheaded Peter. The score will by Andrew Lippa, the composer-lyricist of such shows as The Wild Party and A Little Princess, and the libretto will be by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the writers of Jersey Boys.
