(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Peter Nero and the Philly Pops have announced the line-up for their 2007-2008 season, to take place at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
The season will kick off with Broadway Showstoppers, featuring selections from Tony Award-winning musicals sung by Doug LaBrecque, Lisa Vroman, and Rachel York (September 30-October 7). Up next will be Motown Magic, a tribute to the legendary record label with the male quartet Spectrum as the Pops' special guest (November 4-11).
Broadway star Lisa Howard will join the Pops Festival Chorus and the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas Gospel Chorus for Holiday POPS!, featuring seasonal classics and gospel music (December 9-23). That concert will be followed by Viva Latino! with Grammy Award-winning jazz flutist Nestor Torres (February 3-10).
Stage and television favorite Lucie Arnaz will celebrate her 40th anniversary in show business in We Love Lucie, which will incorporate Broadway music as well as Arnaz's recollections of her parents, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz (March 2-9). The final show in the series (May 4-11) will be chosen by the audience. Polls will open throughout the season and after every performance to help determine the selections.
