Kristin Chenoweth to Host Drama Desk Awards

Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth will host the 52nd Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony on Sunday, May 20 at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall.

Chenoweth returned to Broadway this season in the revival of The Apple Tree and will star in the upcoming City Center Encores! production of Stairway to Paradise, May 10-14. She won a Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and received a nomination for her role of Glinda in Wicked. Her other New York stage credits include Scapin, Epic Proportions, Steel Pier, and Candide; her film and television work includes The West Wing, Kristin, and Bewitched.

The Drama Desk Awards honor the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway. This year's nominees will be announced on Thursday, April 26. The nominating committee consists of Barbara Siegel, chairperson (TalkinBroadway.com, TheaterMania.com); Gregory Bossler (The Dramatist); Bernard Carragher (Catholic Transcript); Glenda Frank (Plays International, nytheatre-wire.com); Tony Phillips (New York Press), and Richard Ridge (Broadway Beat TV).

The awards ceremony will be telecast by PBS and NYC TV (Channel 25) and webcast live by TheaterMania.com.
