Tony Award and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz will be honored at the benefit, Westport Country Playhouse's 2010 Gala, The Magical Music of Stephen Schwartz, to be held on Monday, September 13 at 6pm. Joe Calarco will direct the event. A lineup of performers will be announced at a later date.

Theevent will include pre-show cocktails and reception, the performance and a post-show champagne and dessert party. In addition, there will be a silent auction held at the benefit.

Schwartz is currently represented on Broadway by Wicked. His many musicals include Godspell, which is scheduled to be revived on Broadway later this season, as well as The Magic Show, Pippin, The Baker's Wife, Rags, and Children of Eden.His first opera, Séance on a Wet Afternoon, premiered at Opera Santa Barbara in 2009.

In addition, he has written songs for such movies as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Enchanted, The Prince of Egypt, and Pocahontas.
