Jack Wetherall will join previously announced star Dana Ivey in Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days, to play Westport Country Playhouse, July 6-24. Mark Lamos will direct.

The play tells the story of a woman’s cheerful optimism in the face of a trifling universe, as the central character of Winnie (Ivey) is buried waist deep, then neck deep in a mound of dirt. Wetherall will portray Winnie’s husband, Willie. Lamos will speak about Beckett’s play at a Sunday Symposium on Sunday, July 11, following the 3pm matinee performance.

Ivey is a five-time Tony Award nominee for Butley, The Rivals, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Sunday in the Park with George, and Heartbreak House. Her numerous other theater credits include Sex and Longing, Present Laughter, and last season’s Off-Broadway production of The Savannah Disputation.

Wetherall appeared on Broadway in the title role of The Elephant Man. His television credits include four seasons on Queer as Folk in the role of Vic. The actor won Drama-Logue Awards for his performances in The Bacchae and Man and Superman.
