Complete casting has been announced for the late playwright Horton Foote's family drama Dividing the Estate, to run at Hartford Stage May 28-July 5. The production, which was first seen at Primary Stages and later at Broadway's Booth Theatre, is helmed by Hartford Stage's artistic director, Michael Wilson.

Lois Smith will now play the role of matriarch Stella Gordon, replacing Elizabeth Ashley, who is remaining with the Broadway production of August: Osage County. Smith is currently appearing in the Steppenwolf Theatre's production of The Tempest, which she will be departing mid-run. Her many other stage credits include The Trip to Bountiful, Buried Child, and The Grapes of Wrath.

The remainder of the cast, all of whom appeared in the Broadway production, includes Hallie Foote, Penny Fuller, Gerald McRaney, Arthur French, Devon Abner, Pat Bowie, James DeMarse, Virginia Kull, Maggie Lacey, Nicole Lowrance, Jenny Dare Paulin, and Keiana Richard.

The creative team includes Jeff Cowie (sets), David C. Woolard (costumes), Rui Rita (lighting), and John Gromada (original music and sound), the play's original design team.

Foote, who died earlier this year, won the Pulitzer Prize for The Young Man from Atlanta; his many other plays include The Trip to Bountiful, The Traveling Lady, and The Carpetbagger's Children.
