WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Based on the 1971 film and novel by Herman Raucher, Summer of '42 stars Tony-nominated Idina Menzel (Maureen in Rent and Kate in MTC's The Wild Party) in the part of Dorothy, the young war bride. Amid his summer escapades with his friends in a seaside town, 15-year-old Hermie admires Dorothy from afar and learns a bittersweet lesson in love. Funny, wistful and romantic, this show is drenched in 1940s nostalgia when swing was king, the Yankees ruled, and the discovery of first love felt strange and wonderful.
