Goodspeed Gets Good News and Calls On Dolly for 50th Anniversary Season

Goodspeed Musicals has announced some very Good News for its upcoming 50th Anniversary season at the Goodspeed Opera House.
Vince Pesce will breathe new life into B.G. DeSylva, Lew Brown, Ray Henderson, Laurence Schwab, and Frank Mandel’s 1927 musical Good News, directing and choreographing the college-themed show, which runs April 12-June 22, 2013.
That damned exasperating Dolly Levi will take the stage next, as Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart’s Hello, Dolly!, directed by Marc Bruni, is presented from June 28-September 8.
Finally, Goodspeed will bring the spirit of ‘Big D (little-A-double-L-A-S)’ to Connecticut with Frank Loesser’s classic musical The Most Happy Fella closing the season from September 20-December 1 under the direction of Rob Ruggiero.

Due to a scheduling conflict, Marc Bruni will no longer be directing Goodspeed’s production of Hello, Dolly! Daniel Goldstein, director of the recent Broadway revival of Godspell, will instead take on the project. Some of Goldstein’s other recent projects include Anna Christie at the Old Globe, Annie at St. Louis MUNY, and the Huntington Theater Company productions of God of Carnage, Falsettos, Les Liaisons Dangerouses, and Sinan Unel’s The Cry Of The Reed.
