Marsha Mason will join actor-playwright Michael Cristofer for a reading of his new work The Whore and Mr. Moore at the Westport Country Playhouse at 7pm on Monday, October 20.

The play is about a second-rate playwright who retreats to a country mansion in Maine to write his new work and whose life is turned upside when the ghost of the house’s former owner, a brothel madame, demands her story be told.

Cristofer is currently appearing in A Body of Water at New York’s Primary Stages and recently appeared on the New York stage in Trumpery and Romeo & Juliet. He won the Tony Award and the Pulitzer Prize for his play The Shadow Box.

Mason, a four-time Academy Award nominee, starred off-Broadway in Cristofer’s Amazing Grace and has starred on Broadway in such shows as Steel Magnolias, The Night of the Iguana, and The Good Doctor. She will appear in the California Shakespeare Theatre production of Happy Days in August 2009.

Tickets are $15. To order or for more information, call 203-227-4177 or visit www.westportplayhouse.org.
