Brian Dennehy and Joe Grifasi will star in the Long Wharf Theatre’s production of Hughie by Eugene O’Neill, to run October 8-November 9. The show, which premiered at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, is directed by Tony Award winner Robert Falls.

The show involves a small-time gambler who wanders into a seedy New York hotel fresh from a grief-stricken bout of drinking, and pours out his soul to the hotel’s new night clerk.

The production will be followed by the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel’s A Civil War Christmas, November 26-December 21; Athol Fugard’s newest work, Coming Home, January 14 through February 8; the American premiere of Scarborough, by Fiona Evans, February 18-March 22; and The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway and adapted by Eric Ting, April 1-26. For the final production of the season, Gordon Edelstein will direct two-time Tony Award winner Judith Ivey as Amanda Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie, May 13-June 7.
