Bill Nolte and Mamie Parris Star in the Goodspeed Production of The Most Happy Fella

The Frank Loesser classic rounds Goodspeed’s 50th-anniversary season.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced casting for its upcoming production of Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella, scheduled to run from September 20-December 1 with an official press opening set for October 9 at the East Haddam, Connecticut, theater.

Broadway alums Bill Nolte (La Cage aux Folles) and Mamie Parris (Ragtime) lead the cast as romantic duo Tony and Rosabella. The cast also features Ann Arvia (Mary Poppins) as Marie, Doug Carpenter as Joey, Natalie Hill (Wonderland) as Cleo, Kevin Vortmann (A Little Night Music) as Herman, Daniel Berryman as Ciccio, Martín Solá (Coram Boy) as Pasquale, and Greg Roderick (South Pacific) as Giuseppe. The ensemble includes Noah Aberlin, Elizabeth Ann Berg, Victoria Castle, Christine Cornell, Seth Danner, Michael Deleget as the Doctor, Eloise Kropp, Danny Lindgren, John Payonk, Rachel Rhodes-Devey, Sarah Tranchina, Eric Ulloa, and James Zannelli, with Matthew Amira and Sabrina Marlene serving as swings.

The Most Happy Fella premiered on Broadway in 1956 and was revived three additional times, including its latest 1992 revival, which originated at Goodspeed. The musical follows the developing romance between an older Italian grape farmer Tony and a young waitress named Rosabella. Director Rob Rugierro reprises his partnership with choreographer Parker Esse, following their collaboration last season on Goodspeed’s production of Carousel.

The creative team features costume design by Thomas Charles LeGalley, lighting design by John Lasiter, music direction by Michael O’Flaherty, assistant music direction by William J. Thomas, and orchestrations by Dan DeLange.
