Westport Country Playhouse will present the world premiere of Oblivion, by Carly Mensch, writer for the award-winning television series Weeds, as part of its 2013 season.

The play, commissioned by Playwrights Horizons and developed by Steppenwolf Theatre Company, is described as “a touching and funny–and very modern–tale of parents, children, and the gulf that sometimes exists between them.” It will run August 20-September 7, 2013.

The Playhouse season will also include A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room (April 30-May 18), directed by artistic director Mark Lamos, followed by George Kelly’s The Show-Off (June 11-29), directed by Nicholas Martin. The season will continue with Joe Orton’s farce Loot (July 16-August 3), directed by David Kennedy. Rounding out the season will be John Murray and Allen Boretz’s Room Service (October 8-26), directed by Lamos.
